A common problem for many network operators is how to replace or expand aging Intelligent Network platforms that are no longer actively supported by the original vendor. TappS™ provides an effective solution to this problem by being able to function as an SCP replacement. TappS SCP Edition adaptors support all major forms of IN signaling (AIN/CAIN, IN CS1/CS2, CAMEL, WIN) allowing it to connect to an existing network and function as an SCP. TappS SCP Edition also supports media adaptors which can connect to a carrier network in a very cost-effective way to support services requiring IVR, announcements, and other media interface capabilities.

TappS SCP Edition can coexist in the same network with a legacy SCP allowing new services to be deployed on TappS while existing services continue to function normally. TappS SCP Edition can also support a migration strategy for moving services off an end-of-life SCP onto TappS.
As a next generation SCP, TappS SCP Edition offers many advantages:
- Use of Java and other modern IT technologies and inexpensive standard hardware platforms makes it cost-effective to buy and to develop any required applications.
- TappS media adaptor technologies make use cost effective IP media technologies, and allow all media content to be centrally managed and updated instantly without service provider effort.
- The ability to add adaptors for SIP and other IP technologies for use with the same services supports migration of SS7 to IMS or other Next Generation Network signaling solutions.
