My Location Manager tracks user location using a MAP interface to the MSC and influences the delivery of converged services.

 

My Location Manager can be coupled with My Reachability Manager to provide dynamic information about a user location to create smart call routing. For example, a user might be interested in having his cell phone act as a cordless phone tied to his home phone number whenever he’s at home.

 

Home Zone services are another popular application category that uses My Location Manager. Users specify a cell site as their home zone and get preferential rates when making or receiving calls from that zone. My Location Manager can be configured to generate its own CDRs or simply interface with existing rating and billing systems. My Location Manager supports multiple rates on single calls for situations where subscribers are traveling in/out of the Home Zone while a call is in progress.

 

Home Zone services represent an attractive competitive tool for cellular service providers who see their revenue base threatened by VCC offerings from MVNOs. It’s a low-risk, low capex solution that does not require any change in CPE or user behavior; it lets service providers focus on what they do best: differentiate by creating adapted rate plans and service bundles.
