IM-SSF Edition

IM-SSF is an enabling technology for voice service providers seeking to implement IMS while preserving and leveraging their existing infrastructure investments.

As defined in the IMS reference architecture, the IM-SSF is an IP Multimedia Service Switching function that allows service requests to be forwarded to legacy service delivery platforms such as IN-based SCPs. This functionality is critical for the rollout of new, converged offerings, while continuing service to high-value customers.

TappS™ IM-SSF Edition provides a field proven solution with programmable logic to deliver intelligent gateway functionality between the SIP-based IMS network and IN systems that use protocols such as CAMEL, INAP, AIN and MAP. TappS IM-SSF Edition presents service providers with an effective way to begin rolling out their future IMS network even before their legacy platforms have reached the end of their productive lives.

TappS IM-SSF Edition sits between the IMS Core (S-CSCF) and SCPs implementing CAMEL/INAP/AIN services. TappS IM-SSF Edition includes:

  • Adaptors for CAMEL, INAP, AIN and MAP which can connect directly to SS7 networking or connect over IP using SIGTRAN
  • Adaptors for SIP to connect to the S-CSCF using SIP-ISC
  • Adaptors for HTTP\VXML to connect to the MRFC
  • A programmable Service Logic Execution Environment that supports a programmable service mediation application
  • Management interfaces supporting both local and remote management
  • A redundant architecture supporting 99.999% availability with no single point of failure.
